At 8:42 a.m. on the 7th, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. launched the H2A47 large flagship rocket equipped with the small lunar landing demonstrator "SLIM" and the X-ray astronomical satellite "XRISM" from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture, aiming to land on the moon for the first time in Japan. The two spacecraft were put into orbit about 50 minutes later, and the launch was successful. This is the 41st consecutive successful H2A launch since No. 7 in 2005.

SLIM is a spacecraft developed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Using our proprietary image processing technology, we will take on the challenge of demonstrating pinpoint landing technology that allows users to land at the target location on the lunar surface with high accuracy within an error of 100 meters. If all goes well, it will arrive in lunar orbit in about 3~4 months, and prepare for landing about 1 month later. It aims to become the fifth country to make a soft landing on the moon, following the former Soviet Union, the United States, China, and India.

XRISM is the successor to the X-ray astronomical satellite "Hitomi", which was abandoned in 16 years due to a loss of communication in outer space. While orbiting about 550 kilometers above the Earth, he investigates the properties of dark matter (dark matter), which is said to be involved in the formation of the universe.

The H2A47 was originally intended to be launched around May, but JAXA's first H3 rocket failed to launch in March. The launch was postponed because the electrical system of the engine had a common design with the H2A.
